Baseball Splits On Day Two to Take Series Against Shawnee State

(Crestview Hills, Ky.) - The baseball program at Thomas More University split with Shawnee State on Saturday with scores of 15-2 SSU and 24-7 TMU. With the split the Saints move to 16-17 on the year and 9-4 in MSC play.

Game 1: Shawnee won 15-2

  • Shawnee State scored four in the third, two in the fourth, fifth, and sixth, one in the eighth, and four in the ninth.
  • Thomas More scored their two runs in the bottom of the fourth as Bailey Martin and Brady Reynolds would both cross the plate.

  • Brady Baldock went two-for-two from the plate with a stolen base.
  • Tyler Flick batted with one run batted in.
  • Gavin Pearson hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, he was one-for-three in the game.
  • Martin was one-for-two with a run scored, a stolen base, and drew a walk.

  • Drew Huffman pitched for three and a thirds innings allowing three runs on two hits.
  • David Anthony threw for two thirds of an innings without allowing a hit.

Game 2: Thomas More won 24-7

  • The Bears scored two in the first, one in the fourth and fifth, and three in the sixth.
  • The Saints scored six in the first, five in the third, fourth, and fifth, and three in the sixth.

  • Baldock was two-for-four in the batters box with five rbi's, one run scored, a double, and drew a walk.
  • Derek Atwood batted .500 in the game with four rbi's in as many plate appearances, a run scored, and a double.
  • Nowak went two-for-three from the plate with three rbi's, four runs scored, and a walk.
  • Flick was two-for-three at the plate with two runs batted in, four runs scored, and a triple.
  • Martin batted .500 for the game driving in two runs, crossing the plate three times, and a double. 
  • Reynolds had three hits in four plate appearances driving in one run, scoring four runs, and drawing a walk.
  • Brennen Baker went one-for-one in the game with a rbi and a run scored.

 

  • Hunter Nantz started the game allowing three runs on five hits in three and two-thirds innnings pitched.
  • Zach Dugan pitched two complete innings allowing four runs on five hits while striking out three to earn the win.
  • Noah Weingartner threw for one and one-third innings allowing no runs on three hits while striking out two..

Baseball will return to the diamond on Tuesday, April 6, where they will take on Cincinnati Clermont at Thomas More Field, first pitch is set for 3 p.m. ET.
