Box Score 2 (Crestview Hills, Ky.) - The baseball program at Thomas More split their double header with the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday (April 17), losing the first game by a score of 15-3, but pulling off an upset in game two by a score of 6-2. With the split Thomas More stays in fourth place in the MSC with a conference record of 10-9.
Game 1: Cumberlands won 15-3
- The Patriots scored three in the first, four in the second, one in the sixth, three in the eighth, and four in the ninth.
- Thomas More gained their first run on the series as Derek Atwood would cross the plate in the second off of a Tyler Flick fielders choice.
- In the third the Saints added another run via a Brett Benzinger double that would see Cooper Daniels cross the plate.
- Aiden Reverman scored TMU's final run of the first game after pinch running for Bailey Martin. Reverman scored as Atwood put a ball in play.
- Brady Reynolds was three-for-four in the game with a double.
- Brady Baldock batted two-for-five with two singles.
- Jacob Caruso went two-for-four in the game with a double.
- Benzinger hit .500 in the game with a double and a rbi.
- Mitch Mierke pitched five and a third innings allowing one run on four hits on his twetny-three batters faced.
- David Anthony pitched one inning allowing no hits while collecting a strikeout.
Game 2: Thomas More won 6-2
- Cumberlands scored one run in the second and one in the seventh.
- Casey Nowak drove in Cooper Daniels in the bottom of the third for the Saints to tie up the game. Nowak would come around to score off of an error, giving TMU their first lead of the series at 2-1 after three.
- Tyler Flick hit a single in the fourth to drive in Derek Atwood, increasing Thomas More's lead to 3-1 after four.
- In the fifth Bailey Martin hit a solo home run to push the Saints lead to 4-1 after five.
- TMU added their final to runs in the sixth as Brady Reynolds crossed the plate on a wild pitch and Noah Weingartner scored on a single by Brett Benzinger.
- Martin went one-for-three in the game with a home run and an rbi.
- Nowak was one-for-three from the dish with an rbi.
- Flick batted .500 for the game with a hit and an rbi and also robbed Cumberlands of a two-run homerun.
- Benzinger hit one-for-three from the plate with a run batted in.
- Mychal Grogan threw a complete game (seven innings) earning the win by allowing only two runs on six hits while striking out five.
