Box Score 2 (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)- Thomas More's softball team split day one double header with Shawnee State with the scores of 5-1 (Thomas More) and 11-2 (Shawnee State). The Saints record is now 15-20 overall and 8-17 in the conference.
Game 1: Thomas More 5-1
- Sophomore second baseman Caitlin Dawson's (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County) put the Saints on the board with an RBI single to right-center to send in junior center-fielder Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) to make it a 1-0 game in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
- Shawnee scored one run in the 4th inning (1-1).
- In the bottom of the 5th inning, Dawson doubled to deep left-center to score Hobeika and sophomore third baseman Chloe Woeste (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) (3-1). Sophomore designated player Becca Mowen would step up to the plate and single to deep center to score Dawson to make it 4-1 Saints.
- In the 6th inning, Hobeika singled up the middle to score junior pinch runner Lindsey Meier (Fort Wright, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) for the final run of the game 5-1.
Game 2: Shawnee State 11-2
- Shawnee scored two runs in the 1st (0-2).
- Mowen singled down the right field line to score sophomore shortstop Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to make it a 1-2 game.
- Hobeika doubled to deep down the right field line to send in sophomore left fielder Mattison Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to tie the game at 2-2.
- Shawnee scored one run in the 4th (2-3), five runs in the 5th (2-8), and three runs in the 6th (2-11).
Game 1:
- Dawson went 3-4 at the plate with three RBIs, a double, and scored one run.
- Junior catcher Adrian Marquez (Rushville, Ind./Rushville Consolidated) was 2-3 with a double.
- Hobeika went 2-3 with an RBI and scored two runs.
Game 2:
- McAdoo was 0-1 with two walks.
- Dawson was 2-3 a the plate.
- Fisher was 1-2 scoring a run.
- Hobeika went 1-2 at the plate with an RBI double.
Game 1:
- Sophomore pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 7 innings with one run off six hits, no walks, and struckout six.
Game 2:
- Sophomore pitcher Emily Wisman (Okeana, Ohio/Harrison) started for the Saints pitching 2 innings with no walks, giving up two runs on four hits and struck out one.
- Sophomore pitcher Hannah Bishop (Union, Ky./Ryle) came in and pitched 4 innings with with no walks, giving up nine runs off 12 hits and struck out two.
The Saints return to the field tomorrow (April 16) to take on the second half of their four games series against Shawnee State with their double header beginning at 1:00 pm ET at Thomas More Field.
