Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University baseball team fell, 5-1, to Georgetown College today (Sunday, March 8, 2020) in a Mid-South Conference game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
- Georgetown scored one in the first, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the ninth.
- Thomas More scored its run in the sixth when sophomore second baseman Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) scored on a run batted-in single by first-year third baseman Mike Newsom (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder).
- Senior catcher Matt Wellbrock (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four.
- Newsom was one-for-three with a RBI.
- Martin was one-for-four with a run scored.
- Sophomore pitcher Mitch Mierke (Milford, Ohio/Milford) suffered the loss on the mound as he pitched five innings giving up four runs (all earned) on 10 hits, while striking out one.
- The Saints return to action on Tuesday (March 10) when they travel to Wilmore, Kentucky to play Asbury University at 4 p.m.
