Michael James Newsom is the son of Jim and Ann Newsom...Two siblings, Katie (28) and Julie (24)...Mother Ann Newsom also attended Thomas More.

Michael was a two-year letterwinner at Elder under coach Mark Thompson...He was named 2nd Team All-Greater Catholic League South as a junior and senior...He was Elder's Defensive Player of the Year in his junior and senior years...As a senior, he was named to the East-West All-Star Game.
