Box Score (BLUEFIELD, Va.) – The Thomas More University baseball team rallied to defeat Bluefield (Va.) College, 11-9 today (Sunday, February 23, 2020) in the series finale at Bowen Field in Bluefield, Virginia.
- Bluefield (5-6) scored five in the first, two in the third and two in the fourth.
- The Saints (3-6) plated three in the first, five in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the eighth to post the 11-9 win.
- Sophomore second baseman Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) was five-for five with three doubles, a run batted-in and three runs scored.
- First-year third baseman Mike Newsom (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four with a RBI and a run scored.
- Junior center fielder Tyler Flick (Okeana, Ohio/Ross) was three-for-five with, a double a RBI and two runs scored.
- Senior David Armstrong (Erlanger, Ky./Covington Catholic) earned the win as he pitched three scoreless innings of relieve and didn't allow a hit, while striking out one.
- Junior pitcher Jordan Houze (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) started and had a no-decision as he pitched two and a third innings and gave up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits.
- The Saints will travel to Owensboro, Kentucky on Tuesday (February 25) to play Brescia College at 5 p.m.
