Saints Rally With Six Unanswered Goals and Beat Freed-Hardeman 6-1

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University men's soccer team surrendered an early goal, then scored six straight times to cruise to a season-opening 6-1 win at BB&T Field (Friday, Aug. 23, 2019).

• Sophomore forward Mark McAulay tied the game 1-1 in the 12th minute with a long strike after a corner kick.
• Pierce Turner put the Saints on top when he headed in a Dominic Russo corner in the 21st minute.
• Senior forward Ethan Smith scored his first goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 37th minute.
• Junior Brendan Jones also scored a penalty kick goal in the 52nd minute.
• Smith scored his second of the game on a long header with the opposing keeper off his line in the 62nd minute.
• McAulay scored his second of the game in the 70th minute with an assist from Jones.

• The match was the first in NAIA for the Saints.
• Thomas More outshot Freed-Hardeman 21-12, with 11 shots on goal
• The Saints held a 5-1 edge on corner kicks.
• Smith and McAulay led the Saints with three shots on goal each.
• First year goalkeeper George Tidswell earned the victory in his first start, with five saves.

• Thomas More will host Centre College on Monday, Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at BB&T Field.
