INDIANAPOLIS - Sophomore goalkeeper
Joey Jones of Thomas More men's soccer was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week of September 8th.
Jones earned the award following two standout performances in net. On Wednesday night at Point Park, the Dover, Ohio native kept the Saints in the game by making a pair of saves and not allowing a goal in 45 minutes of action. Then on Sunday, Jones recorded a clean sheet with 4 saves that allowed Thomas More to capture a 1-0 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside in their final non-conference match.
Jones and the Saints start G-MAC play on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Malone, then kick off home conference action on Saturday against Lake Erie at 4:30 p.m.
