Jolly Scores 31 to Lead Thomas More Past Akron-Wayne 84-54

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) — First-year forward Reid Jolly became just the sixth Thomas More University men's basketball player since 1990 to score at least 30 points in a game, finishing with 31 points in only 25 minutes of action to lead the Saints to an 84-54 win over the University of Akron-Wayne in the final game of the Coach Connor Classic at the Connor Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon (November 23, 2019).

  • Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) scored six points in the first four minutes of the game as Thomas More raced out to an early 10-0 lead with 16:07 left in the first half. 
  • Jolly scored the Saints' next 12 points as Thomas More extended their lead to 22-6 with 10:32 remaining in the half. Jolly scored 18 points in the game's first 10 minutes.
  • Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) made a layup with 11 seconds left in the half to give the Saints a 50-25 lead heading into the break.
  • Thomas More shot 19-31 (61.3%) from the field in the first half and made 5-11 three-pointers (45.5%)
  • Jolly had 23 points and three rebounds in the first half.

  • Jolly continued his hot shooting to start the second half, scoring Thomas More's first six points out of the intermission as the Saints extended their lead to 29 points at 56-27 with 18:28 left.
  • Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) scored five points in a two-minute span as the Saints built their largest lead of the game at 79-48 with 3:41 to go.
  • Thomas More shot 14-31 (45.2%) from the field in the second half.
