Box Score

By: Tyler Smith '18

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College Saints improved to 11-4 overall on the year and 7-1 in the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) as they beat Washington & Jefferson College, 82-72, today (January 14, 2017) in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

The Saints had eight players put up a tally today and had five players reach double-figures. Leading the Saints was junior center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual), who finished the game with 18 points. Sophomore guard Damion King (Winchester, Ky./George Rodgers Clark) finished the game with 17. Other scorers were sophomore guard Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky./Rowan County) with 11, junior forward Austin Young (Campbellsburg, Ky./Henry County) with 10 and sophomore center Junior Stockwell (Florence, Ky./Boone County) with 10.

Talking to player of the game Ryne Callahan after the game we asked him how they were able to buckle down and pull out a win against such a scrappy hard working team like W&J and he said, "They just keep making three's even when we would play outstanding defense, we just kept fighting and kept our minds set on meeting the goals we set for ourselves before the game and today we were able to do that."

The Presidents of W&J had 10 players reach the scoring column and were led by three freshman guards. Sean Stinelli had tonight's game-high finishing with 23 points and going seven-of-12 from behind the arc. Mike Zappala finished with 11 and Sven Zepic finished with 10.

Catching up with head Coach Drew Cooper after the game he said, "W&J has shown much improvement from last year, but it just hasn't shown in their record yet. W&J just like every team in the PAC has the ability to beat any team in this conference."

The Saints will hit the hard wood for practice on Monday and Tuesday and then travel to Saint Vincent College on Wednesday (January 18). Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m.
