Box Score 2 (BETHANY, W.Va.) – The Thomas More College baseball team swept a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader with Bethany College today (Sunday, April 10, 2016) at Bethany Field in Bethany, West Virginia.  The Saints won game one, 2-1, and the nightcap, 10-2.
With the sweep the Saints improve to 15-5 overall and 9-1 in the PAC, while the Bison fall to 6-15 overall and 3-7 in the PAC.
In the first game of the day, the Saints plated two runs in the second and held Bethany to one run in the fifth for the 2-1 victory.
Senior pitcher Tim Baldrick (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) earned the win on the mound as he pitched seven innings and gave up one run (earned) on six hits and struck out two.
At the plate, sophomore second baseman Ben Laumann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-three with a double and two runs batted-in and junior right fielder Ben Kenning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four.
In the nightcap, Thomas More had one run in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth and fifth and four in the sixth, while holding Bethany to two runs in the sixth for the 10-2 victory.
Thomas More was led at the plate by sophomore third baseman Bailey Abbatiello (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle), who was three-for-four with a home run, a run scored and five RBI and senior shortstop Marcus Woelfel (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison), who was three-for-four with two runs scored.  Three other Saints had multiple hits in the game as freshman catcher Tyler Harley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-four, senior first baseman Donovan Pogue (Sharonville, Ohio/St. Xavier) was two-for-three with a double, two runs scored and a RBI and Laumann was two-for-three with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI.
Senior pitcher Brandon Humphrey (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) earned the win as he pitched six innings giving up two runs (both earned) on four hits, while striking out six.  Sophomore pitcher Jayson Essell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched one inning of relief and didn't give up a hit or run.
Thomas More returns to action on Tuesday (April 12) when it host Geneva College in a single nine-inning game starting at 2 p.m. at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
