(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's basketball team tipped off today (November 18) in the Coach Connor Classic inside the Connor Convocation Center against Midway University. Thomas More carried by enthusiasm throughout the whole game came out victorious winning 88-70.
The offense looked like a well-oiled machine with a lot of energy and good ball passing leading them to the victory. The Saints had 12 players each the scoring column tonight and 4 of the players reach double figures. Lead by sophomore guard Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky./ Male) who was just 3 points shy of a double-double finished the game with 7 points and 10 rebounds. Along with Horne sophomore guard Ralph Stone (Shelbyville, Ky./ Martha Layne Collins) finished with 16 points, sophomore center Junior Stockwell (Florence, Ky./ Boone County) and junior forward Austin Young (Campbellsburg, Ky/Henry County) both finished with 11 while junior center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./ DuPont Manual) finished with 10 points.
Catching up with Horne after the game he told us, "We played with a lot of enthusiasm tonight, which is when I think we play our best. Not only were the players on the court into the game but so were the players on the bench. On the offensive side of the ball we moved and passed the ball very well, I believe we finished the game with 20 plus assist."
The Midway Eagles finished, the game with nine players reaching the scoring column tonight. The Eagles were led by Byson Harris who finished the game with 9 points. Behind Harris the next three leading scores were Brandon Maxwell finished with 8, Will Hudson finished with 5 and Brandon Johnson finished with 4.
Speaking with head coach Drew Cooper after the game he told us, "It was good to see us passing the ball the way we know how too, it really reflected our shooting percentage." When asked about the energy his team showed he said, "It was a lot of fun to watch them play tonight, you can tell that this team really cares about one another just like a brother".
The Coach Connor Classic will continue tomorrow as the Berry College Vikings face off against Midway College at 2 p.m. followed by the Berea College Mountaineers taking on the Saints at 4 p.m.
