(WINTER HAVEN, Fla.) – Saints softball split on their final day of the Rebel Spring Games, leaving with a record of 4-6 so far this season. The Saints rallied themselves to a 6-4 win over Coe College, but lost momentum in their 10-8 loss to Beloit College.
Against Coe, Jamie Ertel (Mt. Healthy, Ohio/McAuley) earned the win in the circle allowing six hits and four runs pitching all seven innings, also finishing with her first complete game of the season. On top of earning the win, Ertel led the team at the plate going three for four, scoring one run and collecting three RBIs. In addition to Ertel, Dallis Knotts (Florence, Ky./Boone County) went two for three crossing the plate twice for the Saints and earning one RBI. Other Saints contributing to the win were juniors Mamee Salzer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) and Ana Walter (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) who both went two for four, scoring one run and two runs respectively.
To finish the day, freshman Knotts earned the loss in the circle. Regardless of earning the loss, she led the Saints at the plate again going two for three and scoring one run. Salzer was also hot the second game going two for four, collecting two RBIs and scoring once for the Saints. Ertel continued her streak collecting two RBIs to contribute to the collective eight runs.
Closing out their first week of the season, the Saints are 4-6. They return to action Wednesday (March 18) for their home opener against Wilmington College at 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm.
