(WINTER HAVEN, Fla.) - Saints softball picked up two wins today to raise their record to 3-5 on the season. The Saints set the tone for the day with the first win against Hiram College, topping the Terriors 10-2. They carried that over into the second game beating Washington (Md.) College 8-7 in seven innings.
In the first game, sophomore Jamie Ertel (Mt. Healthy, Ohio/McAuley) earned the win in the circle pitching six of the seven innings allowing seven hits and two runs. Freshman Dallis Knotts (Florence, Ky./Boone County) led the team at the plate going 3-5 scoring one run and earning three RBIs. Also collecting hits for the Saints were junior Mamee Salzer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry), collecting two hits and scoring a run, and Ertel who went one for three with an RBI and a scored run.
The second game, Salzer pitched all seven innings for the Saints earning the win in the circle. Leading at the plate was Ana Walter (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) going three for four with a walk-off double, three runs and earning two RBIs. Other Saints contributing to the win were Knotts going two for three, scoring a run and earning an RBI, and Salzer who went two for four snowing one run and collecting two RBIs.
The Saints return to action tomorrow (March 13) at the Diamondplex for the final day of spring games facing off with Coe College at 12:15 p.m. and Beloit College at 2:30 p.m.
