(WINTER HAVEN, FLA.) - The Saints wrapped up their second day of the Rebel Spring Games on Tuesday with a split. The first game, the Saints topped Marietta College 5-3 but fell to Simpson College 3-1. The Saints are on the board with an overall record of 1-5.
In the first game, junior Mamee Salzer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) earned the win in the circle allowing six hits and only three runs in seven innings. At the plate, the Saints were led by junior shortstop Ana Walter (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) who went two for four with two hits and two runs. Sophomore Jamie Ertel (Mt. Healthy, Ohio/McAuley) and freshman Laura Finke (Fort Wright, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) each had a hit to collect RBIs, both in the top of the 6th scoring Salzer and Ertel respectively.
The second game, Salzer earned the loss as relief for Ertel, pitching three of the seven innings - walking one, allowing five hits and three runs. Leading at the plate were junior Krista Summe (Forest Park, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) and Finke each going two for three on the game. Contributing to the offense were Ertel who went one for three and freshman Dallis Knotts (Florence, Ky./Boone County) going two for four. Knotts was the only Saint to cross plate brought home by Ertel with a single in the 5th earning the RBI.
The Saints return to the Diamondplex on Thursday (March 12) facing Hiram College at 2:30 p.m. followed by Washington College at 4:45 p.m.
