Box Score 2 (WINTER HAVEN, Fla.) - The Thomas More College softball team swept two games today (Thursday, March 13, 2014) on the fourth day of the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven, Florida. The Saints defeated No. 2-ranked Montclair State University, 6-4, in nine innings and Beloit College, 8-4, in the nightcap.
With the sweep, the Saints improve to 4-3 on the season.
In the win over Montclair State, senior outfielder Ashley Fletcher (Lebanon, Ohio/Springboro) hit a two-run RBI double in the top of the ninth to score sophomore shortstop Ana Walter (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) and freshman pitch runner Kayla Fulcher (Mason, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) for the game-winning runs. Sophomore pitcher Mamee Salzer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) pitched 5.1 innings of relief and didn't allow a run or hit, while striking out wo and walking four.
The Saints were led at the plate by Walter, who was two-for-three with a two RBI and a run scored and freshman infielder Jamie Ertel (Mt. Healthy, Ohio/McAuley), who was two-for-four with two runs scored.

Ertel got the win in the circle as she pitched 5.1 innings and gave up four runs (all earned) on three hits, while striking out five and walking one.
Thomas More closes out its Florida swing tomorrow as it plays Albion College at 11 a.m. and Husson College at 1 p.m.
