Box Score 2 (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College softball team dropped both games of a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader to Saint Vincent College today (Saturday, April 21, 2012) at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. Saint Vincent won both games by the score of 3-1.
With the sweep, the Saints fall to 21-15 overall and 8-6 in the PAC and the Bearcats improve to 21-13 overall and 10-4 in the PAC.
In the first game, Saint Vincent scored one in the second and two in the third and held Thomas More to one run in the second for the 3-1 victory.
Freshman center fielder Catie Luck (Maineville, Ky./Little Miami) led the Saints at the plate as she was three-for-four, while sophomore third baseman Alex Walter (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) was two-for-three.
Sophomore pitcher Ronni Burns (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) suffered the loss as she pitched five innings and gave up three runs (all earned) on four hits and struck out five.
In game two, Saint Vincent scored one in the first and two in the sixth and held Thomas More to one run in the third for the 3-1 victory.
The Saints were led offensively by sophomore catcher Stefaney Turner (Franklin, Ohio/Carlisle), who was two-for-four at the plate.
In the pitching circle, sophomore Sara Young (Okeana, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) started and earned a no-decision as she pitched four innings and gave up one run (earned) on four hits and struck out one. Burns suffered the loss as she pitched two innings of relief and gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out one.
Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (April 25) when it travels to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader with Geneva College.
