Softball Splits with #7 UIndy

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team split with #7 UIndy on Tuesday (April 7), winning 3-2 (8-innings) in game one and falling 13-3 (6-innings) in game two. The Saints overall record is now 13-21 and 2-8 in conference.

How they scored
Game one: Thomas More won 3-2 (8-innings) over UIndy
  • Sophomore Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) doubled to right center to score senior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to put the Saints on the board 1-0 in the bottom of the first.
  • UIndy scored one run in the third and one in the top of the eighth (1-2).
  • First year Kendyl Feutz (Sardina, Ohio/Eastern Brown) doubled to left center to send in sophomore Natalie Harris (Vandalia, Ohio/ Vandalia Butler) to tie things up 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth. Sophomore Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) singled through the left side, then an error committed by the center fielder would score sophomore Dani Oldfield (Walton, Ky./Walton Verona) for a walk off win over the Greyhounds in the bottom of the eighth (3-2).
Game two: UIndy won 13-3 (6-innings)
  • UIndy scored 10 runs in the second inning (0-10).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, senior Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) scored on a fielder's choice hit by junior Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) to make it a 1-10 game. Natalie Harris and Anna Greenwell would score on an error by the pitcher to put the Saints within seven (3-10).
  • UInday scored three runs in the sixth (3-13).
