Baseball falls to Lincoln Memorial in midweek game

(FLORENCE, KY) – The Thomas More University baseball team fell to Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday afternoon (April 7) by a final score of 4-2. The Saints fall to 13-17 on the season.
 
How they scored
  • The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters scored all of their runs in the first inning.
  • Thomas More scored their runs in the third inning. Senior Riley Poston (Lancaster, OH / Lancaster) got a single up the middle before moving to second base as junior Noah McCarty (Louisville, KY / Christian Academy of Louisville) hit a single through the right side. Riley Poston scored on junior Ty Cunningham's (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) single to centerfield before freshman Jack Geers (Harrison, OH / Harrison) scored Noah McCarty as he doubled down the left field line.
  • Lincoln Memorial had just one more hit for the rest of the game. The Saints had runners in scoring position in both the 8th and 9th inning but were unable to push across another run.
 
 
  • Senior Tony Spangler (Springboro, OH / Springboro) got the start, going three innings allowing four hits and four unearned runs. He struck out three and had three walks.
  • Freshman Chase Maggard (Hamilton, OH / Badin) had two innings of relief work, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk with 1 strikeout.
  • Freshman Adam Forton (Fort Thomas, KY / Highland), sophomore Logan Cones (Independence, KY / Simon Kenton), sophomore Aaron Wichmann (Burlington, KY / Conner), and sophomore Cameron Snider (Amelia, OH / Bethel-Tate) each had an inning of work on the mound pitching a combined four shutout innings and not allowing a hit or walk. Adam Forton had two strikeouts and Cameron Snider had 1.

The Saints will travel to North Canton, Ohio to face Walsh for a G-MAC series on Friday and Saturday (April 10 and 11). Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00PM.
