Softball Fights Back to Split with Findlay

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team split with Findlay on Saturday afternoon (April 11), falling 5-1 in game one and winning 5-4 in game two. The Saints overall record is now 16-22 and 3-9 in conference.

How they scored
Game one: Findlay won 5-1 over Thomas More
  • Findlay scored one run in the first inning (0-1).
  • Sophomore Emma Fegan (Bargersville, Ind./Roncalli) hit her first collegiate home run over the left field fence to tie things up 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Findlay scored one run in the second, one in the third, and two in the seventh (1-5).
Game two:
  • Findlay scored one run in the second, one in the fourth, and two in the fifth (0-4).
  • Senior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) doubled to left field in the bottom of the sixth to send in Emma Fegan to make it a 1-4 game. Sophomore Natalie Harris (Vandalia, Ohio/Vandalia Butler) singled through the left side of the in field to score Ashtyn Elbe and sophomore Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) to put the Saints within one (3-4). Junior Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) singled through the right side to bring home sophomore Dani Oldfield (Walton, Ky./Walton Verona) and Natalie Harris to give the Saints the go ahead lead (5-4).

  • Emma Fegan went 1-3 with a home run, one RBI, and scored one run.
Game two:
Game one:
  • First year Alisha Fox (Mason, Ohio/Mason) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing five earned runs off 11 hits and struck out two.
Game two:
  • Junior Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 4.0 innings, allowing two runs with one earned off six hits and struck out one.
  • Sophomore Avery Gottlieb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing two earned runs off four hits and struck out two.
