Saints swept first day of Spring Break trip

(VIERA, Fla.) – The Thomas More University softball team swept the first day of their Spring Break trip on Sunday (March 8) with victories over Bemidji State by a score of 4-1 and D'Youville in walk-off fashion 3-2.
 
How they scored
Game 1: Thomas More 4 – Bemidji State 1
  • Sophomore Haylee Palmer's (Lawrenceburg, IN / Lawrenceburg) single up the middle drove in both sophomore Emma Fegan (Bargersville, IN / Roncalli), who had drawn a walk, and sophomore Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) who led off with a single to left field in the first inning.
  • Bemidji State scored their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
  • Emma Fegan's infield single in the top of the seventh inning allowed junior Adi Johnson (Ross, OH / Ross) to score after she hit a single and had a stolen base. Emma Fegan later scored on a sophomore Brooklynn Couch (Lawrenceburg, IN / Lawrenceburg / Valparaiso) sacrifice fly.
  • The Beavers went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh as the Saints sealed the win.
Game 2: Thomas More 3 – D'Youville 2
  • D'Youville scored first in the first inning before Thomas More responded in the bottom of the inning. Emma Fegan scored on Haylee Palmer's double to right center.
  • Thomas More took a 2-1 lead in the second inning. Freshman Madi Hall (Gahanna, OH / Lincoln) singled to left field before advancing to third on a passed ball and a stolen base. Adi Johnson's infield single allowed Madi Hall to score.
  • D'Youville tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning.
  • Junior Anna Greenwell (Fort Thomas, KY / Highlands HS / Eastern Kentucky / Northern Kentucky) reached first base on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh, stole second base, and advanced to third base on a senior Sophia Thoma (Cleves, OH / Taylor single before senior Ashtyn Elbe's (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) single to right field drove in the run for the walk-off.
 

Game 1
  • Loghan Cromer went 2-4 at the plate, scoring one run and recorded two stolen bases.
  • Ashtyn Elbe went 2-2 with a double and two walks. She also recorded an RBI
  • Haylee Palmer went 1-3 with two RBIs.
  • Emma Fegan want 1-2, scoring two runs and recording a walk, an RBI, and a stolen base.
  • Adi Johnson went 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. She also recorded a stolen base.
Game 2  

Game 1
  • Freshman Alisha Fox (Cincinnati, OH / Mason) threw a complete game, allowing 1 unearned run, five hits, and no walks. She is now 4-1 on the season.
Game 2
  • Junior Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, OH / Kenton Ridge) throw a complete game in the circle, allowing 2 runs on five hits. She walked one batter and struck out two. She earned the win and now has 5-1 record on the season.
 
Up Next
The Saints will continue their trip to Florida this week. Tomorrow (Monday, March 9) they will face Concordia-St. Paul at 4:45 PM and Rockhurst University at 7 PM.
