Women’s Lacrosse topped by Davenport

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky) – The Thomas More University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Davenport University on Friday evening (Mar. 6) by a score of 21-7. The Saints' overall record falls of 1-4.
 

• Davenport scored the first goal before sophomore Hannah Scheland (Cincinnati, OH / Seton) scored for Thomas More with an assist from freshman Julia Diller (Whitehouse, OH / Anthony Wayne).
• The Panthers scored another goal before sophomore Brynn Halbeisen (Cincinnati, OH / Walnut Hills) connected with senior Meg Pierani (Lawrenceburg, IN / Mercy McAuley) for the Saints' second goal with just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter.
• Davenport responded with five straight goals.
• Meg Pierani had her second goal at the 7:34 mark of the second quarter before junior Alex Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) connected with junior Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) for back-to-back goals for Thomas More.
• Freshman Payton Davis (Springboro, OH / Springboro) scored on a man-up situation just seconds before halftime but Davenport led 10-5 at the break.
• The Panthers scored three goals to start the second half before Anna Wells had her second goal of the game.
• Meg Pierani scored on a man-up situation with 1:32 remaining in the game after Davenport had seven-unanswered.
• Davenport had their final goal with seconds left in the game.

 

• Meg Pierani had three goals off nine shots and capitalized on her free position shot late in the game.
• Anna Wells had two goals on seven shots, had two draw controls and caused two turnovers.
• Hannah Scheland and Payton Davis each scored a goal.
• Alex Nunn, Brynn Halbeisen, and Julia Diller each had an assist. Alex Nunn had five draw controls and Brynn Halbeisen had three.
• Alex Nunn and freshman Brooklyn Thatcher (Cincinnati, OH / Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) each had 4 ground balls.

 

The Saints will be on the rest of March. Their first stop will be in Tigerville, S.C. at North Greenville University. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 PM.
