Baseball Falls in a Heartbreaker to Ashland in Extra Innings

(FLORENCE, Ky.)-Thomas More University's baseball team fell to Ashland on Friday afternoon (March 27), 6-5 in 11-innings.. The Saints overall record falls 10-11 and 3-6 in conference.

• Ashland scored to runs in the first and two runs in the second (0-4).
• In the bottom of the third inning, junior Nolan Krekeler (Loveland, Ohio/Moeller) doubled to the left field fence to score first year Sean O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) to put he Saints on the board (1-4). 
• Sophomore Drew Barth (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) tripled down the left field line to send in first year Ian Mann (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) to put the Saints within two in the bottom of the fourth (2-4). Junior Noah McCarty (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy of Louisville) singled up the middle to score Drew Barth to make it a one run game (3-4). First year Jack Geers (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) singled through the left side to send in Noah McCarty to tie things up 4-4.
• Ashland scored two runs in the top of the 11th inning (4-6).
• Junior Ty Cunningham (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) singled to center field to send in first year Theodore Bosio (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) to put the Saints within one in the bottom of the 11th inning.

• Ty Cunningham went 2-3 with one RBI and walked three times.

• Redshirt sophomore Joe Stone (Waynesville, Ohio/Waynesville) pitched 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs off eight hits and struck out three.
• Sophomore Aaron Wichmann (Burlington, Ky./Conner) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing two runs with one earned off five hits and struck out three.

The Saints return tomorrow (March 28) in a double header against Ashland beginning at 2:30 pm ET.
