Softball Picks up Win in Home Opener Over Kentucky State

(Crestview Hills, Ky.)- Thomas More University's softball team swept Kentucky State University in their double header home opener, 8-0 (5 innings) in game one and 11-1 (5
innings) in game two on Thursday (March 19). The Saints overall record is now 10-12.


Game one: Thomas More won 8-0 in 5-innings

• In the bottom of the second inning, senior Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) grounded out to first base to score sophomore Brooklynn Couch (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) to put the Saints up 1-0. Sophomore Natalie Harris (Vandalia, Ohio/Vandalia Butler) flew out to left field to score first year Alisha Fox (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason) to put the Saints up 2-0. Junior Adi Johnson (Ross, Ohio/Ross) singled to third base to score first year Madi Hall (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) to put the Saints up 3-0.
• In the bottom of the third inning, first year Madi Hall was hit by a pitch to score sophomore Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) to put the Saints up 4-0. Sophomore Natalie Harris singled to right field to score junior Anna Greenwell (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and first year Alisha Fox to put the Saints up 7-0.
• In the bottom of the fifth inning, senior Sophia Thoma tripled to right field to score Madi Hall to put the Saints up 8-0.

Game two:

• In the bottom of the first inning, Brooklynn Couch reached on an error by the center fielder to score Adi Johnson to tie the game up 1-1. Alisha Fox reached on an error by the third baseman to score Natalie Harris to put the Saints up 2-1. Sophia Thoma doubled to left center to score Brooklynn Couch and Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to put the Saints up 5-1.
• In the bottom of the third inning, graduate student Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was hit by a pitch to score sophomore Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) to put the Saints up 6-1. Adi Johnson singled to left field to score Sophia Thoma and Anna Greenwell to put the Saints up 8-1.
• In the bottom of the fourth inning, Natalie Harris doubled to left center to score sophomore Avery Blinn (Mason, Ohio/Mason), junior Anna Greenwell, and Loghan Cromer to put the Saints up 11-1.

Game one:

• Adi Johnson went 2-3 and scored one run.
• Ashtyn Elbe went 1-3.
• Haylee Palmer went 1-3 and scored one run.
• Brooklynn Couch went 1-1 and scored one run.
• Alisha Fox went 1-2 and scored two runs.
• Madi Hall went 1-1 with one RBI and scored two runs.
• Sophia Thoma went 1-3 with a triple and two RBIs.
• Natalie Harris went 1-1 with three RBIs.

Game two:

• Adi Johnson went 2-3 with two RBIs and scored one run.
• Natalie Harris went 2-3 with two doubles, three RBIs, and scored one run.
• Senior Ashtyn Elbe went 1-3 and scored one run.
• Loghan Cromer went 1-1 and scored two runs.
• Anna Greenwell went 1-1 and scored two runs.
• Sophia Thoma went 1-2 with a double, two RBIs, and scored one run.
• Josie Wefer went 1-1 with one RBI.

Game one:

• First year Alisha Fox pitched 5.0 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits and struck out 7.

Game two:

• First year Kendyl Feutz (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing one earned run on 3 hits and struck out four for her first collegiate win.
• Junior Becca LeMay (Pickerington, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) pitched 2.0 innings, allowing no runs on 1 hit and struck out three.

The Saints will be back in action tomorrow (March 20th) for a double header at Cedarville University starting at 2:00 pm ET.
