Saints split third day of Space Coast Spring Games

(VIERA, Fla.) – The Thomas More Saints softball team continued play at the Space Coast Games as day three started off with a win against University of Minnesota Crookston before finishing up the day with a 1-3 loss putting the Saints overall record at 7-8.
 
How they scored
Game 1: Thomas More 8 – Minnesota Crookston 3
  • In the first inning, sophomore Emma Fegan (Bargersville, Ind./Roncalli) singled to left field to score junior Adi Johnson (Ross, Ohio/Ross) while first year Brooklynn Couch (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) advanced to second and sophomore Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) advanced to third, giving the Saints a 1–0 lead.
  • Later in the inning, freshman Alisha Fox (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason) doubled to left field, bringing home Emma Fegan, Brooklynn Couch, and Loghan Cromer to extend the Saints lead to 4–0.
  • In the fifth inning, Loghan Cromer reached first base while Adi Johnson advanced to second. sophomore Natalie Harris (Vandalia, Ohio/Vandalia) scored and Alisha Fox also crossed the plate, increasing the Saints lead to 6-2.
  • Later in the inning, senior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) singled to left field and advanced to second, driving in Adi Johnson for another Saints run putting the score at 7-2. 
  • Sophomore Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) doubled to left field to score Ashtyn Elbe, extending the Saints lead even further at 8-2.

  • In the fifth inning senior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) reached on error scoring First Year Brooklynn Couch (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg).

  • Senior Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 9 hits and 2 strikeouts.
Game 2
  • First Year Alisha Fox (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason) pitched 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.
