Saints fall to Quincy, 5-20

(QUINCY, IL) – The Thomas More University women's lacrosse team fell to Quincy on Sunday afternoon (March 1) by a score of 5-20. The Saints fall to 1-3 on the season.
 

• Junior Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) scored the first two goals for the Saints on free position attempts.
• Freshman Payton Davis (Springboro, OH / Springboro) scored a goal with 5:33 remaining in the first quarter to tie the score at 3 as the Hawks and Saints ended the first quarter tied.
• Quincy took a three-goal lead early in the second quarter before senior Meg Pierani (Lawrenceburg, IN / Mercy McAuley) connected with sophomore Lauren Ferrier (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) for a man-up goal with 10:46 remaining in the half.
• Meg Pierani later connected with Anna Wells for Thomas More's final goal of the game.

 

• Anna Wells scored three goals off nine shots and had a team-high 8 ground falls. She also is credited with five caused turnovers.
• Payton Davis and Lauren Ferrier each scored a goal.
• Meg Pierani had two assists.
• Junior Anna Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) took four shots and had four draw controls.

 

The Saints will return to Republic Bank Field on Friday as they host Davenport. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.
