Saints overpowered by McKendree

(LEBANON, IL) – Thomas More University's women's lacrosse team fell to McKendree on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 28) by a score of 19-9. The Saints fall to 1-2 on the season.
 
How they scored
  • McKendree scored three goals before senior Meg Pierani (Lawrenceburg, IN / Mercy McAuley) score an unassisted goal at the 7:17 mark in the first quarter.
  • Freshman Lali Ramierz (Chula Vista, CA / Castle Park) scored an unassisted goal with just 36 seconds remaining in the opening period.
  • Meg Pierani connected with sophomore Brynn Halbeisen (Cincinnati, OH / Walnut Hills) to capitalize on a man-up situation before Meg Pierani earned he second goal with Lali Ramierz assisting her for another man-up goal with 10:41 remaining in the first half.
  • Meg Pierani had her third goal of the game on another man-up scenario with an assist from junior Alex Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) before the half was up.
  • McKendree took a 10-5 lead at halftime scoring their last goal with less than a minute left.
  • Junior Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) scored the first goal of the second half before the Bearcats scored five unanswered.
  • Anna Wells had her second goal with an assist from Alex Nunn on another man-up situation.
  • Meg Pierani scored the last two goals for the Saints with assists from Brynn Halbeisen and sophomore Lauren Ferrier (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley)
 
  • Meg Pierani had five goals on nine shots. She also had an assist.
  • Anna Wells scored both of her goals in the third quarter off her seven total shots. She also had a team-high 3 ground balls, added four draw controls and two caused turnovers on defense.
  • Alex Nunn had nine draw controls  and two assists.
  • Brynn Halbeisen and Lali Ramirez each had one goal and one assist.
  • Freshman Brooklyn Thatcher (Cincinnati, OH / Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) had 11 saves in the crease.
 

The Saints will continue their trip to Illinois as they take on Quincy tomorrow. The game is scheduled to start at noon.
