Softball Sweeps Union

(BARBOURVILLE, KY.)- Thomas More University's softball team swept Union College in their double header, 12-4 in game one and 13-0 in game two. The Saints overall record is now 2-4.

Game one:

• In the top of the first inning, senior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) hit a single to score sophomore Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) to put the Saints up 1-0.
• In the top of the second inning, junior Anna Greenwell (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) doubled to score sophomore Brooklyn Couch (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) to put the Saints up 2-0. Sophomore Loghan Cromer singled to score junior Anna Greenwell to put the Saints up 3-0.
• In the top of the third inning, sophomore Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) singled scoring senior Ashtyn Elbe and junior Adi Johnson (Ross, Ohio/Ross) to put the Saints up 5-0. Sophomore Brooklyn Couch doubled to score sophomore Emma Fegan (Bargersville, Ind./Roncalli) and sophomore Haylee Palmer to put the Saints up 7-0. Sophomore Natalie Harris (Vandalia, Ohio/Vandalia Butler) singled to score sophomore Brooklyn Couch to put the Saints up 8-0.
• In the top of the fourth inning, senior Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) singled to score sophomore Haylee Palmer to put the Saints up 9-2.
• In the top of the sixth inning, sophomore Natalie Harris singled to score sophomore Brooklyn Couch to put the Saints up 10-3. Graduate student Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) doubled to score sophomore Natalie Harris and senior Sophia Thoma to put the Saints up 12-3.

Game two:

• In the top of the first inning, Ashtyn Elbe flied out to score sophomore Loghan Cromer to put the Saints up 1-0. Brooklyn Couch singled to score junior Adi Johnson to put the Saints up 2-0.
• In the top of the third inning, Brooklyn Couch singled to score junior Adi Johnson to put the Saints up 3-0. Sophia Thoma doubled to score graduate student Josie Wefer and sophomore Brooklyn Couch to put the Saints up 5-0.
• In the top of the fourth inning, Ashtyn Elbe flied out to score sophomore Loghan Cromer and sophomore Natalie Harris to put the Saints up 7-0.
• In the top of the fifth inning, first year Madi Hall (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) walked to score sophomore Avery Blinn (Mason, Ohio/Mason) to put the Saints up 8-0. Adi Johnson singled to score sophomore Dani Oldfield (Walton/Ky./Walton Verona) to put the Saints up 9-0. junior Maeve Fink (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) singled to score first year Madi Hall and sophomore Natalie Harris to put the Saints up 11-0. First year Maura Simpson (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) singled to score junior Adi Johnson to put the Saints up 12-0. First year Izzy Hernandez (Erlanger, Ky./Lloyd Memorial) reached on an error by the right fielder, scoring junior Maeve Fink to put the Saints up 13-0.

Game one: Thomas More University won 12-4.

Game two: Thomas More University won 13-0.

• Adi Johnson went 2-3.
• Maeve Fink went 1-1.
• Maura Simpson went 1-1.
• Brooklyn Couch went 2-3.
• Sophia Thomas went 2-3.
• Natalie Harris went 3-3.

Game one:

• Junior Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 5 innings, allowing three earned runs on 5 hits and struck out 5.
• Junior Becca LeMay (Pickerington, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) pitched 1 inning, allowing no earned runs on 2 hits and struck out 2.

Game two:

• First year Alisha Fox (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason) pitched 4 innings, allowing no earned runs on 2 hits and struck out 3.
• First year Kendyl Feutz (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) pitched 1 inning, allowing no earned runs on no hits.

The Saints will be back in action next Saturday (February 28th) for two games against Bloomsburg University at 11:00 am ET and Lincoln Memorial University at 1:30 pm ET.
