Baseball Secures Game Three Against WV Wesleyan to Sweep the Series

(FLORENCE, Ky.)-Thomas More University's baseball team defeated WV Wesleyan on Saturday (Feb 21), 5-2. The Saints overall record improves to 3-1.

How they scored
  • In the bottom of the first inning, senior Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) singled to center field to score junior Ty Cunningham (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) to put the Saints up 1-0. Junior Matt Resing (Independence, Ky./St. Henry) tripled to right center to send in Gunner Kalkhoff to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • Ty Cunningham scored in the bottom of the third off a hit ball to the third baseman by Gunner Kalkhoff to make it a 3-0 game.
  • WV Wesleyan scored one run in the top of the fifth inning (3-1) and top of the eighth inning (3-2).
  • First year Ayden Holden (Williamsburg, Ohio/Williamsburg) singled to center field in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 4-2 game. Sophomore Drew Barth (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) would follow and also single up the middle to score Ayden Holden to extend the Saints lead to 5-2.
  • Senior Jack Perdue (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) pitched 1.0 innings, allowing no run and no hits.
  • Senior Garrett Taulbee (Felicity, Ohio/Felicity Franklin) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing one earned run off four hits and struck out four.
  • Sophomore Dylan Thompson (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing no runs off one hit and struck out one.
  • Senior Kellen Sandhas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched 0.1 innings, allowing one earned run off two hits.
  • Sophomore Cameron Snider (Amelia, Ohio/Bethel Tate) pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no runs and no hits and struck out two.
