Box Score (CARBONDALE, IL) – The Thomas More University football team began their 2025 season on Saturday evening (Aug. 30th) against #20 Southern Illinois University on the road. The Salukis came into the season ranked #20 in the country at the FCS Division I level, and play in the Missouri Valley Conference. Southern Illinois defeated the Saints by a final score of 49 to 3.

- Southern Illinois received first and took the opening possession down for a touchdown. They scored on a 10 yard run, and the PAT made it 7 to 0.

- Southern Illinois made it 14 to 0 with an 18 yard touchdown pass and PAT with 11:51 to go in the quarter.
- With 6:40 to go in the second quarter, SIU scored a touchdown on a 17 yard pass. The PAT made it 21 to 0.
- Senior Luke Iden (Taylor Mill, KY / Scott) made a 29 yard field go with 2:15 to go in the half to make it an 18 point game.
- SIU scored on a one yard run on the final snap of the half. The PAT is good to make it 28 to 3.
- SIU opened the second half with a 17 yard touchdown pass. The PAT made it 35 to 3.

- An SIU interception returned for a touchdown made it 42 to 3 with 10:40 to go in the game.
- With 7:28 to go in the game, SIU scored on a 3 yard run to make it a 49 to 3 final.

- Redshirt sophomore Griffin Scalf (Cincinnati, OH / Anderson) passed 16 for 23 for 98 total yards in the game.
- Redshirt sophomore Elijah Manning (Louisville, KY / Louisville Male) recorded 10 total tackles, ad 6 solo tackles in the game to lead the defense.

The football team will return to action next Saturday (September, 6th) when they travel to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Dayton Flyers. Kickoff is set for 12:00 P.M.
