Softball Secures Two Conference Wins Over Malone

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team swept Malone on Monday afternoon (April 21) 6-1 in game one and 5-4 in game two. The Saints overall record improves to 18-24 and 6-14 in conference.

How they scored
Game one: Thomas More won 6-1
  • In the bottom of the first inning, senior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, Ohio/Fairfield) hit a ground rule double over the left field fence to send in first year Natalie Harris (Vandalia, Ohio/Vandalia Butler) to put the Saints up 1-0. First year Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) hit a hard hit ball by the third baseman and shortstop to score first year Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) (2-0). First year Emma Fegan (Bargersville, Ind./ Roncalli) tripled to right center to send in Emily Allphin and Loghan Cromer to extend the Saints lead to 4-0.
  • Haylee Palmer singled in the bottom of the third inning to score junior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to make it a 5-0 game. Natalie Harris walked in with bases loaded to put the Saints up 6-0.
  • Malone scored one run in the top of the seventh (6-1).
Game two
  • Loghan Cromer scored off a hit ball by first year Michelle Barth (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Adisyn Johnson scored on the same play off an error by the second baseman to make it a 2-0 game in the bottom of the first inning.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Adisyn Johnson scored off a sac fly hit to right field by Michelle Barth to make it a 3-0 game. Ashtyn Elbe scored off an error by the first baseman to put the Saints up 4-0.
  • Malone scored four runs in the top of the sixth to tie things up at 4-4.
  • Emily Allphin hit a walk off single in the bottom of the seventh to left field to score Natalie Harris to win it for the Saints (5-4).

  • Emma Fegan was 1-2 with two RBIs and a triple.
  • Natalie Harris went 1-1 with two walks and scored two runs.
  • Loghan Cromer was 1-1 with two walks, two RBIs, and scored one run.

  • First year Avery Gottlieb (Ross, Ohio / Oak Hills) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing one earned run off seven hits and struck out two.
Game two
  • Sophomore Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs off three hits and struck out four.
  • Sophomore Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, Ohio/ Westfall) pitched 2.0 innings, allowing two runs with one earned off one hit.
