Softball Falls Short to UIndy

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.)-Thomas More University's softball team fell to UIndy on Tuesday afternoon (April 15) 8-4 in game one and 7-6 in game two. The Saints overall record falls to 13-23 and 1-13 in conference.


Game One: UIndy won 8-4

• In the bottom of the first UIndy scored one run (0-1).
• First year Michelle Barth (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) scored on a bases loaded walk in the top of the fourth to tie things up 1-1. First year Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) scored on a wild pitch to give the Saints a 2-1 lead.
• UIndy scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth (2-6).
• Haylee Palmer scored in the top of the sixth off a fielder's choice hit by sophomore Adisyn Johnson (Ross, Ohio/Ross) to make it a 3-6 game. Sophomore Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) walked home on a bases load walk in the top of the sixth (4-6).
• UIndy scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth (4-8).

Game Two: UIndy won 7-6

• Uindy scored two runs in the first (0-2).
• Junior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) singled to left field to send in first year Emma Fegan (Bargersville, Ind./ Roncalli) in the top of the third (1-3). Adisyn Johnson scored on a sac fly hit by first year Natalie Harris (Vandalia, Ohio/Vandalia Butler) to tie things up at 2-2. Michelle Barth doubled to right field to send in Ashtyn Elbe to give the Saints the go ahead lead.
• In the top of the fourth, Anna Greenwell scored off of a bases loaded walk to make it a 4-2 game.
• UIndy scored two in the fourth to tie things back up at 4-4.
• Natalie Harris singled up the middle in the sixth to put the Saints back up and send in Emma Fegan (5-4).
• Uindy scored two in the seventh (5-6).
• Emma Fegan singled to left field in the bottom of the seventh to send in Haylee Palmer and tie things once again (6-6).
• UIndy scored on run in the bottom of the seventh (6-7).

Game One:

• Haylee Palmer was 2-4 with a double and scored two runs.
• Anna Greenwell was 1-3 and scored one run.

Game Two:

• Emma Fegan was 4-4 with one RBI and scored two runs.
• Haylee Palmer went 3-3 and scored one run.
• Michelle Barth was 2-4 with a double and one RBI.
• Ashtyn Elbe was 1-2 at the plate with two RBIs and scored one run/

Game One:

• First year Avery Gottlieb (Ross, Ohio / Oak Hills) pitched 5.2 innings, allowing eight earned runs off eight hits and struck out five.
• Sophomore Becca LeMay (Pickerington, OH / Bishop Hartley) pitched 0.1 innings, allowing no runs and no hits.

Game Two:

• Sophomore Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) pitched 6.1 innings, allowing seven runs with five earned off 12 hits and struck out one.

The Saints return on Friday (April 18) against Ursuline in Pepper Pike, OH beginning at 2:00 P.M.
