(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) - The Thomas More softball team took on the Northwood Timberwolves on Sunday (April, 13th) in a doubleheader. Thomas More fell in both games to the Timberwolves by the final scores of 12 to 4 and 11 to 1. Thomas More moves to 13-21 overall on the season and 1-13 in G-MAC play.
Game 1: Northwood, 12-4
- Norwood scored the first 3 runs of the game in the second inning.
- In the bottom of the 2nd, first year Michelle Barth (Ft. Thomas, KY / Highlands) hit a two run homer to make it a 3 to 2 game.
- Northwood scored two more runs in the 4th and three runs in the 6th to extend their lead.
- Northood made it 12 to 2 with four more runs in the 7th.
- In the bottom of the 7th, junior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) hit an RBI triple, and came home on a ground out from first year Natalie Harris (Vandalia, OH / Vandalia Butler) to make it 12 to 4.
Game 2: Northwood, 11-1
- Northwood took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the first.
- Northwood added insurance with six runs in the 3rd to make it 8 to 0.
- Ashtyn Elbe hit an RBI double in the bottom of the third to get the Saints on the scoreboard.
- Northwood scored three runs in the 5th, and went on to win 11 to 1.
Game 1:
- Ahstyn Elbe went 2 for 3 at the plate with a walk, triple, RBI and run scored.
- Michelle Barth went 1 for 3 with two RBIs, a runs scored and a home run.
- Senior Emma Kent (Hamilton, OH / Badin) went 1 for 3 at the plate in the contest.
Game 2:
- First year Emma Fegan (Bargersville, IN / Roncalli) went 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored, and a triple.
- Ashtyn Elbe recorded another 2 hits in the game including a double and an RBI.
Game 1:
- Sophomore Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, OH / Kenton Ridge) got the start for the Saints. She pitched 1.0 innings and recorded a strikeout.
- Sophomore Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) came on and pitched 5.0 innings. She allowed 7 runs on 8 hits.
- Sophomore Becca LeMay (Pickerington, OH / Bishop Hartley) pitched 1.0 innings. She allowed 4 runs on 3 hits.
Game 2:
- First year Avery Gottlieb (Ross, OH / Oak Hills) got the start and pitched 2.2 innings. She allowed 8 runs on 5 hits.
- Emma Kent pitched 1.2 innings. She allowed 3 runs on 2 hits.
- Becca LeMay pitched 0.2 innings and did not allow a base runner.
Thomas More is back in action on Wednesday (April, 16th) when the Saints travel to UINDY. First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
