Softball Splits on First Day of Spring Break Trip

(MELBOURNE, FL)- Thomas More University's softball team took Roosevelt and Jefferson in the first day of their Space Coast Games event. Thomas More fell to Roosevelt by a score of 7 to 4 before defeating Jefferson 1 to 0. Thomas More moves to 5-5 on the season.

How they scored
Game 1: Roosevelt 7 to 4.
  • Senior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, OH / Milford) hit a bases loaded double to bring home three runs in the first inning to make it 3-0 Saints.
  • Roosevelt tallied 2 in the second and 5 in the 4th to take a 7 to 3 lead.
  • Junior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) hit an RBI single in the 7th to make it 7 to 4.
Game 2: Thomas More 1 to 0.
  • Sophomore Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, KY / Highlands) scored the games only run off an error in the third.


Game 1:
  • Emily Allphin went 2-4 at the plate with 3 RBIs and a double.
  • Ashtyn Elbe went 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
  • Sophomore Adisyn Johnson (Ross, OH / Ross) went 1-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Game 2:
Game 1:
  • Sophomore Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 3.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and recording one strikeout.
  • Sophomore Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) pitched 3.1 innings, with one strikeout.
Game 2:
  • First year Kendra Steinberg (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) pitched the complete 7.0 innings, and picking up the shutout. She earned the win with only allowing 2 hits in the contest.
