Saints Split Day Two of Florida Space Coast Games

(MELBOURNE, FL)-Thomas More University's softball team split day two (March 9) of the Florida Space Coast Complex. The Saints fell 5-1 to Goldey-Beacom and won 2-0 over Bloomfield. The Saints move to an overall record of 6-6.

How they scored
Game 1: Goldey-Beacon won 5-1
  • Goldey-Beacom scored one run in the bottom of the first inning (0-1).
  • In the top of the third inning, sophomore Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) scored off a ball hit by sophomore Adisyn Johnson (Ross, Ohio/Ross) to tie things up at 1-1.
  • Goldey-Beacom scored one run in the third, one run in the fourth, one run in the fifth, and one in the sixth inning (1-5).
Game 2: Saints won 2-0
  • Junior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) tripled in the bottom of the third to score Adisyn Johnson (1-0). Senior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, Ohio/Milford) reached on a fielder's choice to score Ashtyn Elbe to put the Saints up 2-0.

Game 1:
  • First year Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) was 1-2 at the plate.
  • Anna Greenwell went 1-3 with a double and scored one run.
Game 2:
Game 1:
  • Sophomore Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing five runs with three earned off seven hits and struck out two.
Game 2:
  • First year Kendra Steinberg (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) pitched 7 innings, allowing no runs of two hits and struck out four.
