Saints Sweep New Haven and Mercy at the Space Coast Games

(Melbourne, FL)- The Thomas More softball team took on New Haven and Mercy on Tuesday (March, 11th) at the Space Coast Games. The Saints defeated New Haven 3 to 2 in 8 innings in game one, and beat Mercy 6 to 4 in game 2. Thomas More moves to 8-6 overall on the season.

How they scored
Game 1: Saints won 3-2 (8 Innings)
  • New Haven broke the scoreless game in the top of the 6th with one run.
  • Senior Emma Kent (Hamilton, OH / Badin) hit a base hit in the bottom of the 7th with two outs to bring him the tying run and forcing extra innings. (1-1)
  • New Haven scored in the top of the 8th to take a 2-1 lead.
  • Junior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) hit an RBI single in the 8th to tie the game at 2.
  • Senior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, OH / Milford) followed with an RBI single to walk it off for the Saints.
Game 2: Saints won 6-4
  • In the first inning, first year Natalie Harris (Vandalia, OH / Vandalia Butler) hit an RBI double to put the Saints in front (1-0).
  • First year Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, IN / Lawrenceburg) hit an RBI single in the second to make it a 2-0 game.
