Softball Sweeps Kentucky State at Home

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team swept Kentucky State on Tuesday (March 18) 7-4 in game one and 10-0 in five innings in game two. The Saints overall record 10-8.

How they scored
Game 1: Thomas More 7-4
  • Kentucky State scored one run in the top of the first inning (0-1).
  • In the bottom of the first inning, first year Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) scored on a single hit down the left field line by senior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, OH / Milford) to tie things up 1-1. First year Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, IN / Lawrenceburg) singled to centerfield to send in Emily Allphin to give the Saints the go ahead lead (2-1). Junior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) doubled to left field to score Haylee Palmer and first year Michelle Barth (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) to extend the Saints lead to 4-1.
  • Sophomore Adisyn Johnson (Ross, Ohio/Ross) scored off an error by the second baseman to make it a 5-1 game in the bottom of the fourth. Emily Allphin doubled to left field to send in Natalie Harris to put the Saints up 6-1.
  • Kentucky State scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning (6-3).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Haylee Palmer scored off an error by the third baseman for the Saints final run of the game (7-3).
  • Kentucky State scored one run in the top of the sixth inning (7-4).
Game 2: 
  • In the bottom of the first inning, Adisyn Johnson and Loghan Cromer scored off a single hit by Michelle Barth to right field to put the Saints on the board 2-0.
  • Sophomore Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Adisyn Johnson both scored off errors by the second baseman to make it a 4-0 game in the bottom of the second. Emily Ahllphin grounded out to the second baseman to score Loghan Cromer to extend the Saints lead to 5-0. Michelle Barth hit her first collegiate home run over the centerfield fence to score Natalie Harris for a two run home run (7-0).
  • Adisyn Johnson scored off an error by the shortstop to put the Saints up 8-0 in the bottom of the third.
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ashtyn Elbe scored off a single to the shortstop hit by Anna Greenwell to make it a 9-0 game. Adisyn Johnson hit a hard hit single to the pitcher to send home junior Sophia Thomas (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) (10-0).

  • Sophomore Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 5.0 innings, allowing three runs with one earned off three hits and struck out four.
  • Sophomore Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) pitched 2.0 innings, allowing one earned run off three hits and struck out two.
Game 2:
  • First year Kendra Steinberg (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) pitched 4.0 innings, allowing no runs off three hits and struck out two.
  • First year Avery Gottlieb (Ross, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 1.0 innings, allowing no runs off one hit.
