Baseball Picks up Second Straight Win of the Week

(Florence, KY)- Thomas More University's baseball team defeated Kentucky State University 4-3 on Wednesday (March 12) afternoon. The Saints record improves to 5-6 on the year entering G-MAC play. 

• Senior AJ Enginger (Hamilton, OH/ Badin) led off with a Single and came around to score for the first run of the game in the first. 

• Kentucky State Homered to take the lead 2-1 in the second. 

• First Brady Schnierer (Columbus, OH / Olentangy Liberty) hit a double that put the Saints back up 3-2 in the 4th. 

• Kentucky State tied it in the 8th. 

• Junior Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th, scoring senior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) (4-3).

• AJ Enginger tallied two hits, scoring a run and recorded a stolen base. 

• Senior Derek Marinucci (Canton, MI / Divine Child) had two singles on the day. 

• First year Miguel Correa Jr. (Avon, IN / Avon) walked twice and scored a run. 

• Junior Tony Spangler (Springboro, OH / Springboro) started for the Saints and went five Innings, allowing two earned runs, and striking out five. 

• First year Dylan Thompson (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) threw two scoreless innings and added a punch out. 

• Sophomore Cody Watkins (Liberty Township, OH / Lakota East) went one Inning, allowing an earned eun. He is credited with the win, moving his record to 1-0 

• First year Jeff Levin (Cincinnati, OH / CHCA) closed this one out for the Saints, striking out the side in the 9th. He picks up his first save of the year. 

The Saints will begin their G-MAC Schedule against Northwood University at TMU Stadium in a four game weekend set starting with a doubleheader on Friday (March 14). First Pitch is scheduled for Noon.
