Softball Wraps Up Space Coast Games With Wednesday Action

(Melbourne, FL)- The Thomas More softball team took on Minnesota Crookston and Ferris State on Wednesday (March, 12th) at the Space Coast Games. The Saints fell to Minnesota Crookston 3 to 1 in game one, and fell 3 to 2 to Ferris State in game 2. Thomas More moves to 8-8 overall on the season.

How they scored
Game 1: UMC won 3-1 
  • UMC opened the game with a run in the first inning.
  • Senior Emma Kent (Hamilton, OH / Badin) hit a sacrifice fly in the second to bring home a run and tie the game.
  • UMC scored a run in the second and a run in the 4th to lead 3 to 1.
Game 2: Ferris State won 3-2
  • Senior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, OH / Milford) hit an RBI double to bring the first run of the game home in the first inning.
  • Ferris State scored in the 2nd, 5th and 6th to take a 3 to 1 lead.
  • First year Loghan Cromer (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) brought in a run on a groundout for an RBI in the 7th to make it 3 to 2.

  • Sophomore Adisyn Johnson (Ross, OH / Ross) went 3 for 3 at the plate with a walk and a stolen base.
  • First year Natalie Harris (Vandalia, OH / Vandalia Butler) went 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored and a triple.
Game 2:
Game 1:
  • Sophomore Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing 8 hits and 3 earned runs. She struck out 2 in the game.
Game 2:
  • First year Kendra Steinberg (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits with 1 strike out.
  •  Sophomore Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) pitched 1.0 innings, she did not allow a hit or run.
