Baseball Defeats UC-Clermont in Mid-Week Game

(Florence, KY)- Thomas More University's  baseball team defeated UC-Clermont on Tuesday (March 11), 9-6. The Saints improve their overall record to 4-6 on the year 

• Saints scored three runs on their first three batters of the game by senior AJ Enginger (Hamilton, OH / Badin), senior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier), junior Derek Marinucci (Canton, MI / Divine Child / Alderson Broaddus). 

• UC-Clermont responded with one in the Second. 

• Thomas More answered right back with one in the bottom half when senior Ben Duncan (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Bradley) scored. 

• UC-Clermont continued the scoring with 1 in the 3rd. 

• First year Brady Schnierer (Columbus, OH / Olentangy Liberty) scored on a sac fly by Gavin Vogelgesang in the bottom half of the 3rd making the score 5-3. 

• UC-Clermont scored again bringing it within one in the 4th .

• UC-Clermont tied it in the 5th with a Homer. 

• UC-Clermont took the lead in the 7th on another homer making it 6-5. 

• First Year Miguel Correa Jr. (Avon, IN / Avon) hit a 3 run Homer in the 7th that made the score 8-6 in the 7th.

• The Saints added an insurance run in the 8th when Ben Duncan scored for the second time, finishing the scoring for the day, 9-6 Saints  

• Every hitter for the Saints reached at least once today. 

• AJ Enginger only had one hit today, but reached five times thanks to 3 HBP and a walk.

• Senior Derek Marinucci reached 4 four times and stole two bases along with scoring twice. 

• Miguel Correa Jr. had the offensive highlight of the day with his 3-run home run, adding a 4th RBI on a sac fly. 

• Brady Schnierer reached in almost every way with a single, double, walk, HBP, and fielder's choice .

• Ben Duncan had two walks and two singles, with two runs. 

• Senior Jackson Grimmelsman (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) started for the Saints, going 3.2 Innings, allowing four Earned runs, had two strikeouts. 

• Sophomore Ethan Stone (Hamilton, OH / Hamilton) went 2 innings, allowing one earned run. 

• First year Aaron Wichmann (Burlington, KY / Conner) went 3.2 innings, giving up one earned run and had two Strikeouts.

• Junior Garrett Taulbee (Felicity, OH / Felicity Franklin / Marietta) pitched a scoreless 9th with a strikeout. He picked up his first save of the season 

The Saints will take on Kentucky State University Tomorrow (Wednesday March 12), at TMU Stadium at 3 PM for their final game before G-MAC play begins.
