Luke Iden Breaks Program Record For Career Field Goals in Loss to Tiffin

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) - Thomas More University's football team took on the Tiffin Dragons on Saturday (October, 18th). The Saints fell by a final score of 45 to 10. Thomas More moves to 0-7 overall, and 0-5 in G-MAC play. Senior kicker Luke Iden (Taylor Mill, KY / Scott) broke the program record for career field goals. 

  • Tiffin got the scoring started with a 5 yard run and PAT to take an early 7 to 0 lead.
  • Tiffin extended their lead with another touchdown on a 2 yard pass. The PAT made it 14 to 0.
  • With 19 seconds left in the quarter, Luke Iden made a 23 yard field goal to break the program record for field goals in a career. Making the score 14 to 3.
  • Tiffin scored a touchdown on a 13 yard pass. The PAT extended their lead to 21 to 3.
  • Tiffin added another touchdown and PAT on a 66 yard run to make it 28 to 3.
  • Tiffin intercepted a TMU pass and returned it for a touchdown to make it a 35 to 3 score.
  • Tiffin added one last touchdown in the first half to send us to the break with the score 42 to 3.
  • Thomas More found the end zone with 5:55 to go on a 20 yard touchdown pass from freshman Ben Chesser (Northfield, OH / Nordonia) to redshirt junior Shyhiem Drew (Richmond, VA / Paul Laurence Dunbar). The Iden PAT made it 42 to 10.
  • Tiffin made a 39 yard field goal, as the Dragons went on to win 45 to 10.
Notables
  • Ben Chesser passed for 99 yards on 17 completions. He recorded one touchdown pass.
  • Sophomore Martavious Smith (Bardstown, KY / Bethlehem) recorded 54 rushing yards on 12 carries for the Saints.
  • Sophomore Avery Bodner (Danville, KY / Boyle County) and redshirt sophomore Elijah Manning (Louisville, KY / Male) each led the team with 8 total tackles.
  • Luke Iden made a field goal and set the program record for career field goals.

Thomas More football returns to action next Saturday (October, 25th) when the Saints travel to North Canton, Ohio to take on the Walsh University Cavaliers. Kick-off is set for 12:00 PM.
