Women's Basketball Drops to #15 Ashland

Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team fell to #15 Ashland on Saturday afternoon (January 11), by a score of 78 to 49. Thomas More falls to an overall record of 6-9 and a G-MAC record of 3-4.

• Junior transfer Sereniti Webb (Covington, KY / Simon Kenton) got the Saints on the scoreboard with a layup and got fouled on the play. The free throw put the Saints in front 3 to 2.
• First year Anna Drakeford (Harrodsburg, Ky./Mercer County) ends an Ashland run with 6:02 to go in the opening quarter with a jumper to make it a 9 to 5 game.
• Junior Rylee Turner (Newport, KY / Newport Central Catholic) and Anna Drakeford score on back to back possessions to end the first quarter with the Saints trailing 19 to 11.
• Anna Drakeford opened the second quarter with a layup to put the Saints within six (13-19).
• With 4:58 to go in the half, Anna Drakeford finds Sereniti Webb for a layup to make it a 32 to 16 game.
• Thomas More trails at the half by a score of 43 to 17.
• Thomas More shot 6-23 (26.1%) from the field, 0-4 from the three point line and 5-7 (71.4%) from the free throw line in the half.
• Sereniti Webb led the Saints with 7 points in the half.
• Anna Drakeford added 6 points and 2 assists in the half.

• Anna Drakeford got the Saints started in the second half with a fast-break layup off a steal (19-46).

• Sophomore transfer Anna Swisshelm (Felicity, OH / West Clermont) works her way inside and makes a layup for the first points of the final quarter for the Saints.
• Rylee Turner and Morgan hunt score back to back buckets to make the score 70 to 35 with 6:41 to go.
• With 4:28 to go, Anna Swisshelm makes another bucket to make it 72 to 40.
• Thomas More knocks down free throws in the closing minutes to make the final score 78 to 49.
• Thomas More shot 15-48 (31.3%) from the field, 0-8 from the three point line, and 19-25 (76%) from the free throw line for the game.

• Anna Swisshelm and Anna Drakeford led the team in scoring with 10 points each.
• Rylee Turner and Anna Swisshelm both led the team in rebounding with 4 each.
