Box Score 2 (AUBURNDALE, FL)- Thomas More's baseball team opened up their six game Florida trip on Monday (March, 4th) when they faced off against Notre Dame College and Winona State University. The Saints defeated Notre Dame by a score of 6 to 1 in game one, and fell to Winona State by a score of 7 to 2. The Saints overall record moved to 5-4 on the season.
Game 1: Thomas More defeats Notre Dame 6-1
- First year Sam Bond (St. Leon, IN / East Central) drives in the first run of the game in the third inning with a double.
- Also in the third inning for the Saints, sophomore Jeremy Ward (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) drives in the second run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 2 to 0.
- Notre Dame scored one in the third inning to make it 2 to 1.
- Sophomore Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) drives in a run to open the 5th inning on a single.
- Sam Bond hits another double to bring home another Saint run to make it 4 to 1 in the 5th.
- Jeremy Ward drives in two more runs in the 5th on a single. (6-1)
Game 2: Winona State defeats Thomas More 7-2
- Saints took the lead in the third inning with a two run double by senior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, KY / Cooper).
- Winona State scored one in the 5th inning on a sacrifice fly (2-1).
- Winona State scored 3 runs in the 7th inning to take a lead (2-4).
- Winona State scored 1 run in the 8th and 2 more runs in the 9th (2-7).
Game 1:
- Sam Bond went 4 for 5 at the plate with 2 RBIs and 2 doubles.
- Jeremy Ward drove in 3 runs on 1 hit and a sacrifice fly.
