Women's Basketball Drops on the Road to #1 Ashland

(ASHLAND, OH)-Thomas More University women's basketball team falls to #1 Ashland on Thursday (Feb. 22) evening by a score of 86 to 48. The Saint overall record moves to 15-10 and 11-7 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.

• Sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, KY / Newport Central Catholic) knocked down a free throw for the first Saint points of the game (1-2).
• Senior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, OH / Summit Country Day) made the first Saint bucket with 6:12 to go in the quarter (3-10).
• Senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) makes her first three pointer of the contest off an assist from first year Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village Local Schools) to make it a 9 point game (8-17).
• First year Desiree Tandy (Danville, KY / Danville High School) makes a bucket at the buzzer to make it a 10 point game after one (14-24).
• First year Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, OH / Eastern Brown) scores the first Saint points of the second quarter on free throws (16-27).
• Senior Maggie Jones (Piner, KY / Simon Kenton) makes a driving layup with 6:35 to go in the half (21-32).
• With 51 seconds to go in the half, Alex Smith makes another three pointer to cut into the Ashland lead (27-42).
• Senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, OH / Roger Bacon) hits a three pointer as time expires to make it 44 to 30 in favor of Ashland at the break.
• Alex Smith led the Saints with 8 points in the half to go with a rebound, steal and block.
• Morgan Hunt led the team in rebounding with 3 in the half.
• Rylee Turner recorded 7 points in the opening half.
