Saints Close Out 2024 and the Non-Conference Slate with a Victory

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)- Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated the Purdue University Northwest Pride on Saturday (December 21st) by a score of 63 to 54. Thomas More improves to an overall record of 5-6 overall on the season as they close out the non-conference part of the season.


First Half
  • Junior transfer Sereniti Webb (Covington, KY / Simon Kenton) got the Saints started with a layup in the paint to tie the game at 2.
  • With 4:20 to go in the opening quarter, first year Kendall Sterling (Seymour, IN / Seymour) ends a Saint draught with a bucket off an assist from junior Rylee Turner (Newport, KY / Newport Central Catholic) to make it a 3 point game (4-7).
  • Sophomore Laney Baker (West Harrison, OH / East Central) makes a layup off another Rylee Turner assist to cut it a one point game.
  • With 2:47 to go in the quarter, Sereniti Webb gives Thomas More the lead with a bucket to make the score 8 to 7.
  • A layup from first year Anna Drakeford (Harrodsburg, KY / Mercer County) and a three pointer from senior Callie Hunt (Trenton, OH / Edgewood) caps off a 15 to 9 first quarter for Thomas More.
  • With 9:43 to go in the second quarter, sophomore transfer Anna Swisshelm (Felicity, OH / West Clermont) makes a free throw for her first collegiate point. (16-9)
  • Sereniti Webb works inside and makes a layup off an assist from Laney Baker to make it an 18 to 13 game.
  • Callie Hunt knocks down her second triple of the day with 3:53 to go in the half to give the Saints a six point lead.
  • With 1:16 to go, sophomore Desiree Tandy (Danville, KY / Danville) makes a three pointer off an assist from junior Alaina Keeney (Wheelersburg, OH / Wheelersburg) to make the score 24 to 17.
  • Callie Hunt hits a jumper before the end of the half and Thomas More heads to the locker room with a 26 to 22 lead.
  • Thomas More shot 37% (10-17) from the field, 21.4% from three (3-14), and 75% (3-4) from the free throw line in the half.
  • Sereniti Webb and Callie Hunt both led the Saints in scoring with 8 points. 
  • Webb also recorded a team high 5 rebounds in the half.
Second Half
  • Anna Drakeford got the first points for the Saints in the second half with a layup off an assist from Rylee Turner. (28-22)
  • Rylee Turner drives and makes a layup off an assist from Anna Drakeford to give Thomas More back the lead with 4:24 to go in the third. (34-32)
  • The Pride goes on a scoring run to end the third and the Saints trail after three by a score of 39 to 36.
  • Rylee Turner scores the first points of the final quarter for Thomas More on a triple off an assist from Callie Hunt (39-41).
  • Rylee Turner continues her hot second half with a triple off an assist from sophomore Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village) to cut the Pride lead down to three.
  • Back to back three pointers from Rylee Turner and Anna Drakeford give Thomas More their first lead since the middle of the third quarter with 2:59 to play. (51-49)
  • Rylee Turner jumps a pass to get the steal and takes it for a layup to extend the Saint lead to four with 2:27 to go.
  • Sereniti Webb scores back to back buckets as Thomas More extends their lead to 57 to 49.
  • Thomas More makes their free throws down the stretch to win by a score of 63 to 54.
  • Thomas More shot 42.9% (21-49) from the field, 30.4% (7-23) from three, and 77.8% (14-18) from the free throw line for the game.
  • Rylee Turner tallied all 17 of her points in the second half.

  • Rylee Turner led the team in scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 8 rebounds in the contest. She also added 3 assists and 2 steals.
