Women's Basketball Opens up New Year with Conference Win Over Walsh

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Walsh, 64-57. The Saints overall record improves to 6-6 and 3-1 in conference.

First Half
  • First year Anna Drakeford (Harrodsburg, Ky./Mercer County) drove to the rim for a laup to kick things off for the Saints with 8:28 to play in the first quarter (2-0).
  • Sophomore Laney Baker (West Harrison, Ohio/East Central) drained a 3-point shot with 5:24 to play in the quarter to put the Saints up 9-3.
  • Anna Drakeford knocked in the final basket of the quarter with a jump to make it a 22-5 game.
  • Sophomore Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village) made a layup to start things off for the Saints in the second half with 9:11 to play in the half (24-7).
  • With 4:21 to play in the half, junior Natalie Noel (Salem, Ind./Salem) hit a 3-point basket to put the Saints up 31-14.
  • Anna Drakeford drove to the rim for a layup for the Saints final basket of the half with 2:17 to play.

  • Morgan Hunt led the Saints with seven points and five rebounds in the first half.

Second Half
  • Anna Drakeford started off the scoring for the Saints in the third quarter by hitting a jump shot with 6:37 on the clock (37-28).
  • Junior transfer Sereniti Webb (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a layup with 3:31 to play in the quarter to make it a 41-35 game.
  • Anna Drakeford knocked in two free throws for the final points of the quarter with 16 seconds to play to give the Saints a 39-37 lead going into the final quarter.
  • To start things off in the fourth quarter, Laney Baker made two free throws to extend the Saints lead to 51-37 with 8:59 to play.
  • With 7:06 to play in the game, Morgan Hunt hit a 3-point shot to put the Saints up 56-43.
  • Morgan Hunt made a free throw for the final point of the game to secure the Saints 64-57 win over the Cavaliers.
  • Sereniti Webb led the Saints in the second half with eight points and had two rebounds.
  • Anna Drakeford also led with eight points and had one assist.
  • Rylee Turner had four rebounds for a team high.
