Women's Basketball Knocks Off Tiffin on Saturday Afternoon

(TIFFIN, OH)- Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Tiffin on Saturday afternoon (December 14), by a score of 80 to 54. The Saints overall record improves to 4-5 and 2-1 in conference play.

First Half
  • Saints get off to a good start with a made jumper from junior Alaina Keeney (Wheelersburg, OH / Wheelersburg) to make it a 2-0 lead.
  • With 7:34 to go in the opening quarter, sophomore Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village) knocks down a triple to make it a 5 to 3 game.
  • Two minutes later, sophomore Laney Baker (West Harrison, OH / East Central) hits a three pointer off an assist from junior Natalie Noel (Salem, IN / Salem) to make the score 8 to 5.
  • With 3:23 to go in the first, sophomore Sadie Foster (Mt. Orab, OH / Western Brown) hits a jumper to tie it up at 10.
  • Alaina Keeney finds senior Callie Hunt (Trenton, OH / Edgewood) for a jumper that retakes the lead for the Saints (12-10).
  • Junior transfer Sereniti Webb (Covington, KY / Simon Kenton) makes a bucket down the stretch and the Saints lead at the end of the first quarter 15 to 10.
  • First year Anna Drakeford (Harrodsburg, KY / Mercer County) scored the first points of the second quarter on a jumper to make it 17 to 13.
  • On the next possession, Drakeford finds Alaina Keeney for a triple to make it a 20 to 13 game.
  • Keeney caps off an 8 point Saint run with her second triple of the quarter to make it 23 to 13.
  • With 3:27 to go in the half, Keeney continues her hot hand by knocking down another three pointer to extend the Saint lead (29-16).
  • Callie Hunt and sophomore Desiree Tandy (Danville, KY / Danville) each make buckets in the final two minutes of the half to send the Saints into the break with a 33 to 24 lead.
  • Thomas More shot 40.6% (18-32) from the field, 25% (5-20) from three, and 40% (2-5) from the free throw line in the half.
  • Alaina Keeney led the Saints with 11 points in the half.
  • Junior Rylee Turner (Newport, KY / Newport Central Catholic) led the team in rebounds with 6.
Second Half
  • Rylee Turner scores the first points of the second half for the Saints to put the lead up to 10 (36-26).
  • Sereniti Webb helps push the lead to 11 with two buckets as the game reached 6 minutes to go in the third.
  • With 5:40 to go in the third, Anna Drakeford knocks down a three pointer off an assist from Morgan Hunt to push it to a 14 point game (43-29).
  • Alaina Kenney makes a jumper, and Anna Drakeford hits a three pointer to end a Tiffin run and keep the Saint lead at 10 (48-38).
  • Morgan Hunt drains back to back three pointers to close the quarter and send the Saints to the fourth with a 55-43 lead.
  • Rylee Turner scores the first points of the final quarter to make it a 14 point game.
  • With 7:28 to go, Turner works her way in the lane to score and make it a 20 point lead for Thomas More.
  • A Sereniti Webb layup and a three from Alaina Keeney made it a 69-43 game with 6:35 to play.
  • Callie Hunt drains a three pointer with 5:54 to go to make it a 28 point game.
  • Saints score on back to back possessions, off layups from Laney Baker and Desiree Tandy with 3:40 to go (76-48).
  • Thomas More wins the game by a final score of 80 to 54.
  • Thomas More shot 48.4% (30-62) from the field, 32.4% (11-34) from three, and 60% (9-15) from the free throw line in the game.
