#1 Women's Basketball Falls to #25 Pikeville in Regular Season Finale

(PIKEVILLE, Ky.)-#1 Thomas More University women's basketball team fell to #25 Pikeville on Saturday (February 18) 71-68. The Saints overall record falls to 26-2.

First Half
  • Senior Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) drove to the rim for the first basket of the game to put the Saints up 2-0 with 9:24 on the clock in the first quarter.
  • With 4:03 to play in the first quarter, junior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) drained a 3-point shot to tie the game up at 8-8.
  • Senior Zoie Barth (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) hit a 3-point basket for the Saints final basket of the first quarter with 35 seconds left (15-11).
  • The Saints led 15-13 going ino the second quarter.
  • Zoie Barth knocked in two free throws for the Saints first points of the second quarter to put them up by two with 8:45 to go in the second quarter (17-15).
  • Kelly Brenner made a layup to tie the game up at 19-19 with 5:27 to play.
  • Zoie Barth made two free throws with 56 seconds left in the first half for the Saints finals of the second quarter (26-27).
  • The Saints would trail 26-31 going into the locker room at the half.

  • Courtney Hurst would knock in a 3-point shot with 4:39 to play, to make it a three point game (57-60).
  • Rachel Martin drove to the rim for a layup for the Saints final basket of the game with five seconds to play (68-69).
  • The Saints would fall 68-71 to the Bears.
  • Zoie Barth led the Saints in the second half with 16 points and two assists.
  • Courtney Hurst had nine points.
