#1 Women's Basketball Falls to #25 Pikeville in Regular Season Finale

(PIKEVILLE, Ky.)-#1 Thomas More University women's basketball team fell to #25 Pikeville on Saturday (February 18) 71-68. The Saints overall record falls to 26-2.

• Senior Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) drove to the rim for the first basket of the game to put the Saints up 2-0 with 9:24 on the clock in the first quarter.
• With 4:03 to play in the first quarter, junior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) drained a 3-point shot to tie the game up at 8-8.
• Senior Zoie Barth (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) hit a 3-point basket for the Saints final basket of the first quarter with 35 seconds left (15-11).
• The Saints led 15-13 going ino the second quarter.
• Zoie Barth knocked in two free throws for the Saints first points of the second quarter to put them up by two with 8:45 to go in the second quarter (17-15).
• Kelly Brenner made a layup to tie the game up at 19-19 with 5:27 to play.
• Zoie Barth made two free throws with 56 seconds left in the first half for the Saints finals of the second quarter (26-27).
• The Saints would trail 26-31 going into the locker room at the half.
• Zoie Barth led the Saints with 11 points and had one rebound in the first half.
• Kelly Brenner followed with eight points and had one rebound.
• Emily Simon recorded three rebounds to lead the team and had four points.
• The Saints were 33.3% (9-27) from the field, 30% (3-10) from the 3-point line, and 100% (5-5) from the free throw line in the first half.

• First year Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central) started things off for the Saints in the second half with a layup to make it a 28-31 game with 9:50 to play in the third quarter.
• Zoie Barth would make a layup and one to tie the game up at 38-38 with 4:50 left on the clock.
• With two seconds left on the clock, Zoie Barth would knock in two free throws to tie it up at 45-45 going into the final quarter.
• Junior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) made a layup for the Saints first basket of the final quarter to put the team within on with 9:13 to play in the game (47-48).
• Courtney Hurst would knock in a 3-point shot with 4:39 to play, to make it a three point game (57-60).
• Rachel Martin drove to the rim for a layup for the Saints final basket of the game with five seconds to play (68-69).
• The Saints would fall 68-71 to the Bears.
• Zoie Barth led the Saints in the second half with 16 points and two assists.
• Courtney Hurst had nine points.
• Rylee Turner led the Saints defensively with five rebounds and had six points.
• The Saints were 46.9% (15-32) from the field, 25% (2-8) from the 3-point line, and 90.9% (10-11) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Zoie Barth led the team with 27 points and three assists and had one rebound.
• Emily Simon led the Saints defensively with seven rebounds and had nine points and two assists.
