Women's Basketball Drops in G-MAC Opener

(MIDLAND, MI)-Thomas More University women's basketball team fell in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener at Northwood on Wednesday (November, 29th) evening by a score of 83 to 61. The Saints drop to an overall record of 2-3 and a G-MAC record of 0-1. 

• Sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) got the Saints started with a layup on the first possession off an assist from senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) (2-0).
• Senior Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) ends a Northwood run with a three pointer to make it a 2 point game (5-7).
• First year Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village) scores back to back buckets for the Saints in the closing minute of the opening quarter (10-21).
• First year Desiree Tandy (Danville, KY / Danville) opened the second quarter with a basket for the Saints off an assist from senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) (12-21).
• Senior Rachel Martin knocks down a three pointer off an assist from Morgan Hunt for her first points of the game (17-37).
• Martin scores a bucket on the final possession to end the half (19-41).
• Saints were 8-28 from the field in the opening half (28.57%).

• Rachel Martin opened the third quarter with a basketball for the Saints (21-41).
• Desiree Tandy, Rachel Martin and Kelly Brenner each score a basket on consecutive possessions for the Saints (28-51).
• Senior Mattison Vickers (Covington, KY / Simon Kenton) scores a layup midway thru the quarter (33-53).
• Rylee Turner drills a three pointer off an assist from Morgan Hunt (36-53).
• A few minutes later Turner drains her second three of the game off another Hunt assist (39-55).
• Alex Smith hits a three pointer with a minute to go in the quarter off an assist from Vickers (42-59).
• Maggie Jones scored the first Saint points in the 4th quarter with a three pointer off an assist from Alex Smith (47-70).
• First year Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, OH / Eastern Brown) converts on an "and-one" midway thru the final quarter (50-73).
• Rylee Turner finds Morgan Hunt who drains a three pointer for the Saints (53-73).
• Tandy makes a pair of free throws in the closing seconds for Thomas More (61-83).
• Saints shot 15-34 in the half (44.11%).

• Rachel Martin led the Saints with 12 points in the game to go with 3 steals, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds.
• Desiree Tandy recorded a new career high 10 points, along with 2 rebounds in the game.
• Rylee Turner recorded a team high 5 rebounds and 9 points in the contest.
• Morgan Hunt tallied 7 points and a team high 3 assists in the game.

The Saints return to action on Saturday (Dec 2) when they host Cedarville at the Connor Convocation Center. That game is set to tip-off at 1:00 PM.
