Women's Basketball Defeats Wisconsin-Parkside for First Division II Win

(KENOSHA, WI)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday evening (Nov 10), 75-68 for the Saints first Division II win. The Saints overall record improves to 1-0.

• Senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) made a 3-point basket for the Saints first Division II basket with 8:40 on the clock (3-0).
• With 3:33 left in the first quarter, first year Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern Brown) drained a 3-point basket for her first collegiate basket to make it a 16-11 game.
• Senior Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a 3 pointer for the Saints final basket in the first quarter to make it a 22-13 game.
• Sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) knocked in one free throw for the first point in the second quarter for the Saints with 7:38 in the half (23-15).
• Sophomore Natalie Noel (Salem, Ind./Salem) hit a 3-point basket with 1:02 to play in the half to extend the lead to 35-29.
• Rylee Leonard would make two free throws to finish the half with 32 seconds left (37-29).
• The Saints would lead 37-32 at the half.
• Alex Smith would lead with 10 points and had one assist.
• Maggie Jones led with two assists and had five points and two rebounds.
• Senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) also had two assists to lead and had four points and one rebound.
• Natalie Noel tallied two assists to lead in the first half and had three points and two rebounds.
• 34.5% (10-29) from the field, 35% (7-20) from the field, and 71.4% (10-14) from the free throw point line in the first half.

• Alex Smith drove to the rim for a layup with 9:01 on the clock (39-34).
• Senior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) made a layup with 6:27 to make it a 45-40 game.
• With three seconds to play in the third quarter senior Mattison Vickers (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a jump shot for the final basket of the quarter (59-49).
• With 9:26 in the fourth quarter, Rachel Martin made a layup to extend the lead to 61-49.
• Rylee Turner drove to the basket for a layup with 5:20 left in the game (68-54).
• Rachel Martin hit a free throw with two seconds left to secure the Saints first Division II win, 75-68.
• Alex Smith led the Saints with nine points in the second half.
• Rachel Martin also led with nine points and had four rebounds and one assist.
• Rylee Turner led the team in the second half with seven rebounds and had four points.
• The Saints were 56% (14-25) from the field, 25% (2-8) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (8-12) from the free throw in the second half.

• Alex Smith led the team with 19 points and had one assist.
• Rylee Turner led with nine rebounds and had 10 points and one assist.
• Maggie Jones led with two assists and had nine points and two rebounds.
• Kelly Brenner had eight points and three rebounds and led with two assists.

• The Saints were 44.4% (24-54) from the field, 32% (9-28) from the 3-point line, and 69.2% (18-26) from the free throw line.
